New website? Wait... WHAT?! Yes, it is true! There is a new website coming to town! This website is targeted to the viewers of my pet tab. This website is focused on
A. Homemade dog food B. little doggy DIYs C. And cute little bows that will be for sale on my soon to come website, + More! But guys, don't worry! I will share my posts here as well! Hope you guys will LOVE it! Until next time- May What ingredients are really in your dogs food? You may not realize what ingredients go into your dogs stomach . It can be absolutely horrid . This video I wanted to share shows what goes into your dogs stomach, and why making dog food at home is a good thing to do . It comes from many different angles . From raw food feeders, to Vegan feeders, Vegetarian, and people who feed their dogs dry food or canned food . This will open your mind, and I know it sure sent me running to my dog food bag and my eyes shot to the ingredient list . Luckily, my dogs food is fine when it comes to ingredients contained in the food . But, just knowing how they cook the dog food tells me that she is not getting all the nutrients she needs no matter what they say, and the percentages they have to have to claim that their food is "high protein" or "high Fiber" etc. are extremely low . This is the video that will change your view on your dogs food . Come back later and read the rest of my post . I will wait right here! Are you not disgusted? I am . I decided to keep layla's dog food, as it doesn't have all the bad things this video talks about . But, I am going to start making my own dog food, mixing 1 part dry food 2 parts homemade food . If you decide to switch or (like me) mix, please do your research and find out the best ingredients, and formulate something that is balanced . I do not agree with feeding your dog a vegetarian or vegan diet . Dogs are naturally meat eaters and meat should make up most of their diet . However, veggies are very good for your dog also, you just need to figure out how much . Join me on the trip to a healthy dog! I am going to formulate my own dog food, to mix as I already stated, with her regular dry food . Every other week, I will post how she looks . Where did i go? Well...to be honest I don't know. I have no idea where i went. I got realllllyyy sidetracked. First, Layla got a laceration in her hind leg ( which took a lot longer than it should to heal), then i realized my room was a mess so i cleaned it, then layla was bit by a snake on the top of her nose and her face puffed up like a puffer fish. Shall i tell the stories? The laceration- I walk to the back door to let Layla inside to feed her. I let her in and walk to the garage door and fed her inside the garage. I gave her her bowl of food ( yes there are to hers in a row), but she wouldn't eat. i walked back to the door to let her back into the house, and when she turned around to follow me i saw a laceration in her hind leg. My mom said we would take her to the vet that Monday. We arrived at the vet and she had 10 stitches put into her leg. A couple weeks later, two of them fell out. We took her back to the vet and the lady that did her check-up said she would be fine and pretty soon she only had about 4 or 5 stitches left and it was extremely painful for her. We took her to the vet we normally take her to ( the first one was an animal hospital ) and they removed the stitches and put in new ones ( and this time they did it right). She is now fine :D. Well..... this one's pretty simple. Layla came inside with a reaaalllllyyy puffy face and two red dots on her nose with dried blood. A snake. It was poisonous. But she's fine!!
until next time- ~May~ --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recipe time!! These are super simple and inspired by the baby food training dots from www.peaceandwoof.com. So first off, lets get to know the ingredients! Let me introduce you to-
Pumpkin! All you need is 10 table spoons and he will make any dog happy! ( make sure he doesn’t have any spices in him. Just plain pumpkin!) Flour! ( i use Mr. Garbonzo Bean Flour) with 1 cup of Flour will hold any party together with his good friend.... Egg! Egg helps flour keep it together!(Flour tends to lash out...) You need 2 eggs. Now mix all of your ingredients together! Now their friendship is stronger!! Scoop the batter into a piping bag, with whatever Wilton tip you want. I used a plastic bag and a Wilton tip instead. Or, you can just cut the corner off of a plastic bag for the same effect. Cook in your preheated oven for about 15 minuets at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. That's all! These are very, very, very similar to those on peace and woof, except I use pumpkin, because it has the same consistency. Thanks for reading and until next time- ~May~ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ What does your pup rate these? Mine gives em' 4 paws up!! ( How in the world does she manage that?) Hey, thinkers! Seeing that you guys really seemed to enjoy my skin care routine, i thought i would post another routine! Plus... I think it's fun :). Sooooo lets get started!!
Like pretty much every pet owner, the first thing i do in the morning with my pet is let her out to pee! Y'all totally wanted to know that. Yes. I CAN read your mind! Muahaha! Okay back on topic... After i let her in a feed her. So interesting. I will actually be posting things i recommend to feed your dog, and what i feed my dog so Definitely keep an eye out for that! Anyhow, after she is all stuffed up i go outside, in weather permiting, and run her and play with her. I let her in and after going about my day I will tie her leash to the rack on the back of my bike and take her for a bike ride, another future post and how-to. After she is pooped we take a break and she gets some water, and we ride some more and take little breaks until she is completely worn out and is slowing down and is lagging behind. Now, I know my dog and even though she still has a lot of energy, she will lag behind. She IS capable of keeping up, but we just ride around my front yard. In the road she is always by my side. Why? I have no stinking idea. So, Let me rephrase. We stop when she is lagging behind AND is putting off the body language that says ' I have no interest in this anymore. I want to go inside! '. Every dog is different, but my dog says this by looking of to the side and not focusing anymore, and she also shows she wants to teak a looonnnggg break when she has no skip in her step anymore. It's just a bland fastwalk. Kinda like what you do when you are getting tired from jogging. Yes i know...from experience...Guilty! When she shows this body language, I put my bike in its place in the garage and untie the leash. We then sit in the shade under a tree and gulp some water. I go in and get my treat holder thingy (which is actually a makeup bag. There is a place where the lid folds over that there is a loop for eyeliner and i strung a skinny orange belt through it and full it with treats. 'Improvise!!', I always say!). I put some treats inside and we do some training in the shade. I just started teaching her tricks in late December of 2013. She now knows 'Bang' aka 'play dead', 'high five', 'double five' (a high five with both her paws), 'beg', 'sit pretty' ( normally used as an alternative word for beg, but i use the word to describe begging, but she puts her front paws on my knee, and crosses them. It's super cute.), 'shake hands', and lastly 'roll over'. I practice all of these as well as the basic sit, stay, lay down, and back. What 'back' is is basically where she steps 2 steps back and sits. Afterwards, I walk laps with her and use the clicker and treats to train her to sit when i stop. Yep. Still working on that one! The rest of the day we pretty much do whatever we want. Sometimes we ride bikes in the road, and sometimes I fatten her up with treats. Just depends. I hope you enjoyed! Until next time- ~May~ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What's the first thing you do with your dog or cat...or hamster....or bird...you know what i mean, in the morning? Today is the start of a new series titled 'Why not?'! This series explains things such as, Why not do feed your pet something, why i don't allow my pet to do somthing, and why you shouldn't do something ( as far as pets go) and includes reasonable explanations for 'Why not?' This post is about ' Why my dog gets away with nothing'. Lets start this off with some cause and effect reasoning, shall we?-
Dog digs hole- 30 minuets locked in crate and is scolded- she doesn't do it again for a longer amount of time. Now do you understand what this post is about? It is likely you do. Now, what happens when this punishment has been completed and the dog is let out of the crate? It is simple. NO praise, NO touch, and NO talk. So, I basically continue on with the day as if nothing ever happened, but at the same time, i don't give any special attention for at least 5 minuets. Why? Well, when i do this i simply make it clear that i am NOT taking back the punishment, and i do NOT feel bad for her ( that is, unless she hurts herself in those 5 minuets.). Does this seem harsh to you? Unreasonable? Or do you agree with this? Do you think it makes sense to punish a dog in this way? Honestly, I have seen a HUGE change in her personality- in the good, and in bad. She does not seem like a different dog, she just has less bad habits, and more good habits. She is still the same hipper, spirited dog i have always had! ------------------------------------ Do you agree with this? Why or why not? As some of you may know, i have clicker trained my dog. The thing is, does it really work? Clickers work most of the time, but it depends on your dogs personality, and how you train them to respond to it. I trained my dog in the simplest way possible. When they do something good, i click, then give a treat. I no longer give a treat every time, i don't want her to only listen when i give her a treat. Instead, i give her affection. She does respond to it, and wags her tail when i click it, because she knows the click means she did good. She is kind of a stubborn dog, but i love her to death! For more information on clicker training your dog, you can look forward to future posts and updates on clicker training my dog, Layla.
Until next time- May Lets do a bit of clarification on a subject. Now, i know that my dog treat recipies and other pet D.I.Y progects should be under this tap in some of my viewers opinions. Now, That just would not quite make sense. I have aD.I.Y tab that is for all do it yourself progects and it wouldn't really make sense to have a D.I.Y progect under a tab that is not FOR D.I.Y. I don't just put pet D.I.Y's under that tab, i also put other do it yourself progects. I just thought i would clarify this to explain. If you have any more questons or find this confusing, please just let me know in the comments bellow. Thanks-
Until next time~ May I thought it would be fun to introduce my pets! Well, Here we go! Layla is my 4 year old boxer dog. She isn't very big, but it isn't surprising how small she is. I wouldn't say she is tiny, I wouldn't say she's big either. She is quite a bit bigger than a beagle, But a little smaller smaller than a Labrador. Female boxers are just generally small compared to the males. She is very hipper, playful, And in no way AT ALL skittish. She is one of the most outgoing dogs i know! She is full of personality, and always wants to associate with people of all ages and sizes. There are so many more things to say about her, But to sum it up, She is hipper, cheeky, generally well behaved, smart ( She knows a few extra tricks to!), sometimes troublesome, And very, very sociable. I love her so much! Sebastian is my 1 year old Fancy Russian Dwarf Hamster. He is quite sweet, He used to be obese but we fixed that problem with more exercise, and a steady diet! He isn't as cheeky as Layla but i still love him for what he is! He is quite tiny, not even the size of my hand! ( well, you probably guessed that because he is a dwarf hamster! Well! That pretty much sums that up! I wish i could say more, But you will find out more as time goes by! Hope you enjoyed reading about my pets! Ask me questions, or tell me about your pet!
